Q. Will darker shade film reject more heat?
Ans : No. It all depends on the quality of the film and not on the colour or shade. The film may be absolutely transparent but still rejects much more heat than a darker film. Always check the
TSER (Total Solar Energy Rejected) figures.
Q. Do all the films look alike after fixing?
Ans : Yes. The films may look the same on immediate fixing. But over a period of time they may fade or bubbles may erupt and even the heat rejection may come down after a very short period of
time which may be as less as 2 months. Scratches may appear on the film of inferior quality. So always insist on the warranty card. Aarmour Gard films give warranty up to 7 years. You may pay a little
higher price for a quality product but be rest assured that you get more than what you have paid for.
Q. Are all the films installed the same way?
Ans : Yes. All the films are installed from inside the glass. The films are installed by professionals to give you an immaculate finish without any strips or joints on the rear glass.
Q. Why is film required when tinted glasses are supplied by the Car manufacturer?
Ans : The tinted glasses are slightly better as compared to plain glasses when we talk of heat reduction. But they do not give you protection from harmful UV rays which are responsible for tanning
of the skin and fading of the interiors. Tinted glasses do not help much in cutting down the infrared rays which are responsible for generating heat. More over a good quality films will make the
glasses shatter proof in case of an impact on the glass, providing additional safety.
Q. Films for the front windscreen. Will it create problems?
Ans : No. It all depends that you use the right kind of film for front windscreen as many films may be transparent but are not meant for front windscreen, as the optical clarity required for front
windscreen installation may not be up to the mark. Also check the reflectivity of the film which should not be more than 10%. In fact if you check the glass area covered by the front windscreen glass
its almost 40-45% of the entire glass area of the vehicle. More over the front windscreen is steeply inclined and hence most of the sunlight generating heat enters through it, if this glass is not
treated, then even the best films on the sides and back glasses will not give you the desired effect of keeping the vehicle relatively cool. Good quality front windscreen films also have in built
anti glare properties for comfortable night driving by minimising glare from the opposite coming traffic with their headlights on.
Q. Higher the infrared values of the film specification, higher is the heat rejection?
Ans : Not necessarily. Few companies mention very high infrared values. But still the films may not be very effective in rejecting solar heat. So always check the TSER which is the most important
factor to check how, effective is the film. On checking the specification, kindly note whether the specification states the value of the total solar energy rejected is of the film alone or the film
mounted on the glass as the plain glass would also reject heat in the range of 10 to 15%.
Q. Which films to choose from?
Ans : There are various brands available and you make your own choice after evaluating the price versus the quality and its benefits. Choose from a range of films which are non metallised as these
films when applied to the entire car including the front windscreen will give problems with the signals i.e. signals of GPS, Signals of cell phones and other equipments. Also insist on a warranty
card which gives you confidence that the product chosen and paid for, is what goes on your glasses.
Q. Can the film be scratched?
Ans : Aarmour Gard film comes with a tough anti scratch resistant coating to give you the years of trouble free service. Use soft clean damp cloth to wipe the film to give it a new look.
Q. Does the film require curing time?
Ans : Yes, depending on the type of film that you use it can take any where between 2 days to 5 days for the film to cure and dry completely. Few droplets, moisture or haze may be visible initially
but they will disappear when the film is cured completely dry.
Q. Can we change the present film to Aarmour Gard film.
Ans : Yes, but it depends on the film that you already have , inferior films leave glue on the glass and it takes a lot of time to clean them, but it is possible. This is the advantage of films
that you can change any time with the shade and type that you require.
